General information about the Society |
Society of Educators was established July 10, 1996.
The aims of the Society, among others, are:
assisting the projects aimed at the educational development at local level;
organization of training activities aimed at improving administration in education;
promotion of the administration skills in education. Training of the managerial staff in education;
preparation and evaluation of the educational training materials.
The Society was created by the participants and beneficiaries of the PHARE TERM - IAE program carried out in Poland during in the period 1994 - 1996.

The Society has set up a Nonpublic Teachers Training Unit „Educator” registered by the Ministry of National Education on the 10th of August, 1999 (DN2-14123/rej/12/99). The unit may operate on the entire territory of the Polish Republic.
Members of the Society
All members of the Society are trainers and/or educators of the TERM - IAE program.
As of now the Society has 218 members.
Skills and experience of the Society members
The prevailing majority of the Society members has been taking part in the TERM - IAE program (Training for Education Reform Management) financed by PHARE. Its IAE component (Improving Administration of Education) was aimed at the preparation of educational materials and training of a large number of educators engaged in professional development of educational administrators. The project was carried out with the full consent and cooperation of the Ministry of National Education. European Union was represented in the program by the Consortium formed by:
Pegagogisch Technische Hogeschool, Holland;
Office for International Policy Services, UK;
European Consortium for Training, Enterprise and Development, UK.
Program TERM - IAE was carried out in Poland during the period 1994 - 1996.
Among the members of the Society who expressed the will to participate in RDP activities are authors of the TERM training materials, design team leaders, trainers of educators and trainers of the target groups. They were taking part in achieving the following results of the TERM - IAE project:
Design and preparation of the training materials for the following modules: Organizational Development of the School; Social Communication in Organizations, Managing Change, Quality Measurement, Training Methods for Educators, Managing Schools, Information technology, Managing the Teachers’ Center, Managing In-service Training in Teachers Centers, The Professional Role of the Inspector, Educational Standards and Pupil Entitlements, The Law in Gminy , Gminy and the Schools.
Training of the core group of educators. This group now constitutes the core group of the Society members.
Development of 1 300 teachers - members of the target groups. This process was supervised by polish and foreign trainers, thus enabling educators to gain a substantial practical experience.
The second nationwide program in which educators - members of the Society have participated was NEW SCHOOL - the largest polish program carried out by CODN in years 1997 - 1998. It was aimed at the preparation of schools to the educational reform. Within the program, with active participation of the members of the Society, were designed, prepared and tested scenarios of the teachers council in-service development covering the following areas: Pupils Assessment, Curriculum Design and Integration, Teachers’ Development. More than 3 000 educational officers were trained. Each of them has next carried out 40 hours of training with school teachers’ councils.
Among members of the Society there are also participants of yet another large school development program CREATOR aimed at introduction key competencies concept to schools. Other programs which were carried out with significant if not crucial participation of the members of the Society are: GIMNAZJUM 2002, LITLLE SCHOOL, PARTNERSHIP IN KINDERGARTEN.
Members of the Society are taking part in continuous self development. This is achieved by organization of the yearly conventions during which, apart from integrating activities, an extensive program aimed at the development of the professional knowledge and skills of the participants is routinely set forth.
Members of the Society:
know how to recognize the needs and expectations of teachers, how to design and prepare training material and how to carry out effective training sessions;
can train effectively by using collective work of the trainee group;
are able to participate in a long term training programs;
have solid knowledge of the educational reform;
are well informed about the educational systems in EU countries - most of them took part in study visits to France, Portugal, Holland, UK, and Denmark.
